Akron Zoo

Today our adventure was to the Akron Zoo. We got lucky when we purchased our Cleveland Zoo pass because it includes like 50+ other zoos across the US. Akron happens to be very close to us, so its an awesome quick trip kind of zoo. We didn't plan to stay as long as we did, but like yesterday everything was up and moving nicely!

Ella's favorite part of the zoo is the Penguins, the Jellyfish, and the Otter. The otter was hard to get good photos of today, but the jellyfish and penguins got the most of our attention. Enjoy the pics and the videos at the end!!

These two penguins spent a lot of time by Ella in this little corner - I think maybe they were attracted to the blue of her dress or something? She was sooooo excited!

Mr. Otter - Ella had brought her stuffed "Ollie the Otter" with us and enjoyed putting him up for the real otter to see.

The glass was a touch dirty, but the Eagle had stretched out its wings so nicely for us. You can click the picture to bring it up larger :)

Ella and Ollie on the frog statue.

Ella posing with some artwork - pieces were randomly displayed all over the zoo.

Ella in the butterfly garden - we'll have to visit again when everything is in bloom.

These little owls seemed to like the little kids, they moved down on the limb closer to the fence but far enough from prying little fingers.

The stork kept drinking straight from the little waterfall, it was cute :)

This little deer was quite the sight - every little kid got to pet it - it just stood there enjoying the attention.

Ella's favorite! The train ride!

Snow Leopard.

Ella loved the bat building. She brought home a little bat friend from the gift shop!

Ella and Ollie posing on the dragon/snake looking thing.

Leopard.

This thing was harder to walk on than expected. LOL

Driving the Safari van.

Ella trying to flap the Condor wings - they were quite heavy!

Mom - here's those black headed swans - that's what I think we saw in the river out back. Check out the two fluffy chicks :) Sooo cute. In the next pics one or both are on moms back.

Crazy little monkey - video below.

Here's one of those pincushion looking sea urchin things. We got to go to a touch table and we felt this little guy which resembled one of those really poky brushes that you hate your mom to use. We also got to feel a starfish, the shell of a hermit crab, and a horshoe crab which has a hard shell but whose shape resembles a small stingray.

This frozen coke was well deserved - we were sweating the day was so nice!

Here's the penguins!!!

Here's the bats - you can't see any up close - just what seems like a hundred flapping past at the speed of light!! It was cool.

They weren't very happy with each other :)

The lion was very sleepy and startled herself when she leaned on the log - tee hee.

Ella really enjoyed feeding the goats.

The Jellyfish exhibit was very cool!

These Jelly's were my favorite :)

These ones were super cool - they have electrical pulses running through them - look closely!!

Crazy little monkey :)
